Matthew James Low

Research Associate, Fintech Strategy

Matt is a futurist and entrepreneur focused on the next generation of financial services. He specializes in Fintech Strategy at Autonomous Research, a leading research firm for the financial sector, helping clients understand and leverage innovation.

Matt is a founding member of TapTuck, a digital payment technology platform that is currently in its pre-seed phase. He is an active adviser to Spazapp, a digital financial services platform tailored specifically to the unbanked in Southern Africa.

Matt is a contributor of thought leadership to various Government representatives and Media players such as Bloomberg, WSJ, CNBC, Reuters, among others. He has spoken on the role of technology in the future of financial services at conferences for various audiences.

Prior to Spazapp, Matt held a variety of strategy consulting roles touching Oil & Gas, Investment Banking, Big Tech, and Healthcare at IBM and Elixirr Partners. He holds a Finance Honors & Economics degree from the University of Cape Town.


Firm History

2009: Founded in London as an independent research firm, specializing in European banks and insurers.

2012: Opened New York office and launched coverage on US financials.

2015: Opened Hong Kong office and launched coverage on Chinese financials and China macro.

2017: Launched Autonomous NEXT, a Fintech and innovation process, headquartered in the UK and available to global investors and financial firms
